Special Education - Rebecca Huggard

I am beyond happy to be a Laker!  I always knew I wanted to be a teacher but as a child I wanted to be a Kindergarten teacher.  It wasn't until high school that I realized I wanted to work with students with special needs.  My sophomore year in high school, I started volunteering in the Special Education classroom and playing basketball with the students after school.  My heart was drawn to the amazing spirits and unique personalities of students who struggle every day with disabilities.  I quickly knew that I wanted to teach and support these students as a career.  I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2007 with a degree in Elementary Special Education with an endorsement in Cognitive Impairment.  I graduated in 2013 with a Masters Degree from Marygrove College.

I live in Maple City with my husband, Mark and three children, Norah, Jack and Brody.  We have many fur babies.  Betsie and Teddy are our crazy cute dogs, Kacie is our sweet calico kitty, Ollie is our fluffy face bunny and Tico is our turtle.  We love being outside hiking, camping, bike riding, swimming or just playing in the yard.  We love being a part of the Laker family!
